Training + Capacity

We distil and share decades of deep regional experience and global expertise with you, your team, and clusters of local nonprofits - so you feel confident and are equipped to fund your local impact.

“The training program has significantly broadened my perspective on resource mobilization. Beyond traditional institutional donors, I've gained the confidence to explore a diverse range of funding sources, including trusts, foundations, and institutions and also to shift from a reactive to a proactive and strategic fundraising approach.”

- Paule Caroline, CARE International (Lao PDR)

Theory, Tactics & Tools that work

During the past decade we have encouraged and equipped thousands of participants in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Oceania with regionally-relevant fundraising theory, tools, and tactics - and they have gone on to successfully resource and fund their social impact.

Our courses and workshops are designed to inform practice at all levels – from strategy to the day-to-day work – they equip at all levels to start, sustain, and scale funding programmes and partnerships.

Our award-winning online training courses and our onsite workshops are practical – doing these programmes is doing the work of partnership-building.

We also navigate the big organisational questions that shape what is possible, we shift perspectives, shape the platforms from which impact can be resourced, and design clear pathways to holistic, high-value partnerships that go far beyond funding

Our primary focus is on our long–term contribution to the ecosystem. Years later, training participants tell us how the courses contributed to their later partnership-building and funding successes. In the shorter–term, our training delivers consistent returns on investment – participants tell us that our courses made a “significant” contribution to their success, during, and immediately after our courses.

“Fundraising is such a nuanced undertaking and there’s still so much to learn about what is suitable for different regions of the world. Thank you for creating a platform for fundraisers to learn from each other and I’m grateful to have shared my own experience in Africa.”

- Nachula Wilson – Global Faculty, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Ashesi University, Ghana

altFUND 2025: Global Funding for Local Impact

We are delighted to present altFUND2025, the alternative certificate in Global Funding for Local Impact.

This 20–week programme will combine live teaching webinars that brings a sense-making structure to the complexity of high-value partnership-building and regional group mentoring circles will connect and support participants.

  • altFUND has been designed with and for civil society leaders, programmes professionals, and funding partnership–builders in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Oceania.

  • altFUND goes beyond traditional narrow perspectives and experiences from North America and Europe – the curriculum is designed and delivered by a global faculty with deep experiences of building high-value funding partnerships in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Oceania.

  • altFUND equips participants with relevant theory, tools, tactics, and peer networks, to explore how to fund local impact from global, regional, and local sources (both traditional and alternative), to grow new income streams, to start and sustain new partnerships, to level-up funding partnerships, and to lead.

The programme will open for registrations in January 2025, and run from March to July 2025. There will be a fee to attend the programme and 2025 places will be strictly limited, so early application is advised.

“It’s a remarkable course with practical outcomes. The program has impacted me positively, I have been able to develop three proposals and shared with potential donors and we are about to sign an agreement of $30,000. “

- Georgine Obwana, Civil Society Alliance for Nutrition (Uganda)

Global Radicals: Fundraising Leadership Programme

In 2025 we will super-charge our free, award-winning, 12-week training programme for civil society leaders in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Oceania.

The focus is on building high-value funding partnerships to resource local impact. Last year more than 1,000 participants joined from 100+ countries.

As always, we will deliver the programme with live translations!

The next programme will open for new registrations in August 2025.

"One of the best capacity-building decisions I have made. Following the training program helped me connect in new ways with donors, we developed a strategy for my organization, and I led a proposal that has raised $150,000.”

- Justine Nekesa, Hunger Fighters Uganda

Onsite Workshops

Our onsite workshops inspire and inform participants to build high-value partnerships to resource and fund their local impact - from global institutions and trusts, to local wealthy individuals and companies, whether you're based in Aotearoa or Zambia.

These tailored sessions can be for individuals, teams, or clusters of local NGOs - they shift perspectives and performance, challenge myths, identify choices, offer frameworks that guide decisions, they build confidence, share ownership, clarify roles and responsibilities, lay tracks for innovation, and will encourage and equip you to build holistic, high-value partnerships that deliver resources and funding for your social impact.

"It was a pleasure to have you here in Kimbe alongside us again. Your training, guidance and our deep discussions during these past three years have helped us to build two new big funding partnerships. These resource us to empower indigenous forest communities and support them so they know their rights and resources, and continue to preserve more of PNG's rainforest."

- Cosmas Makamet, General Manager, FORCERT (Papua New Guinea)
